one of my friends who previously played flanker in the uni 2nds has changed to playing league 1sts. he is going to be playing loose forward or centre and i was just wondering if ash, damian or anybody else knew what the main changes were to gym training in league? and if it was possible drawing up a sample program for him to follow while he gets his feet wet in the different code??

does he have to focus more on aerobic conditioning than before now? more power than static strength?

    Thanks

    Disi

Hi disi, In reality there is not a lot of difference in training for both codes, possibly more power based gym work in League than maximal strength loading and the aerobic/anaerobic component in higher combined with speed, but any of my prorgrams that I have posted here will provide the details for him to transition without too much difficulty, cheers, ash
