National Champs 2013

Age: 26
Weight: 117.35 kg

Squat:
1st: 315, 3 reds – Centre ref dropped her arm first then gave a delayed voice command, good lesson to always wait for the voice command. The weight felt easy.
2nd: 330, 2 whites & 1 red for depth – Also felt easy.
3rd: 345 (12.5 PB), 3 whites – Sunk this one a bit deeper, good drive through to lockout.

Bench:
1st: 210, 3 whites – Good speed.
2nd: 217.5, 3 reds – Stalled a couple inches from lockout on my left side, I fired the bar straight up so it was too far in front.
3rd: 217.5 (2.5 PB), 3 whites – Better technique, steady through to lockout.

Deadlift:
1st: 295, 3 whites – Good speed.
2nd: 310, 3 reds – Bar slipped out of my right hand just as I locked out, this has never happened to me before. The bar had a more polished finish than the bar I train with, something I need to prepare for.
3rd: 310, 3 whites – Gripped the hell out of the bar.

Total: 872.5k – 22.5k PB, 1st in the 120k class & finally cracked 500 wilks (504).

A few things to improve but generally I’m happy with the result for the first time in a long time.
Thanks to Powerhouse Gym for running an excellent competition, awesome atmosphere.
A big thanks to team Getstrength for the priceless help on the day, allowing me to focus on lifting.

I’ll take a week off training then back into it to prepare for the Commonwealth & Oceania Champs at the end of the year.
