In full agrreeance here, when I was with basketball the players just hated stretching so I used the sprinter’s squat and they improved there hip flexor flexibility and single leg strength as well, also all the “core” work we do now is compound movments Turkish Get ups, Samson Sidebends, Suit case dead lifts, training the entire body and not isolating, cheers, ash
